In India, there is a small village that is famous for a very mysterious and unexplainable phenomenon - having more than 450 sets of twins in a small village alone.
If you are one of those parents or MOMS who wanted to give birth to two cute babies at once, you must visit TWIN TOWN.
The Twin Town or The Village of Kodinhi in Kerala is famous for a very mysterious phenomenon. According to sources and reports, almost each and every family in this village have a pair of twins.
According to MysteriousUniverse.Org
"Kodinhi has the distinction of having the most unusually high rate of twin births in the world. In a village of only 2,000 people, there are reportedly over 220 pairs of twins. It was reported that in 2008 alone, 15 pairs of twins were born in the village."
"The rate of twin births globally is around 6 out of every 1,000 live births, whereas in Kodinhi it is more like 42 out of every 1,000 births, a striking contrast to the norm."If we will calculate these numbers, the twin rate at this village alone is around 6 times of the global average.
Some experts and doctors already conducted their check-ups, tests and experiements in the village. One doctor said that the rate of twin births in this village is increasing every year and the number of twins in the "twin town" almost doubled in the past decade. It's really a mystery for them knowing the fact that India has one of the lowest "twinning rates" in the world.
Researches already conducted lots of genetic, biological, environmental, molecular, hereditary and even climatic factors to determine what causes this phenomenon. They even conducted some experiments for pollutants and chemical factors to determine if it can be one of the possible cause. But since almost all twins born in Kodinhi are perfectly healthy and normal, pollutions, genetic problems and chemical factors has been ruled out completely.
What more interesting about this village is that even if outsiders conceive in the village, they will highly likely have twins.
As of this moment, there is no concrete evidence or fact that explains this natural phenomenon. There are still on going tests and research being done at this village but until now, no one explain what's the possible cause.
